3 Reasons to Include a First Look on Your Wedding Day

I’ve come to realize that the connection I share with my clients extends far beyond the realm of business. It’s a bond that stems from a deep-rooted desire we all share – the desire to be seen, to feel beautiful, and to be important. As I look back on my own childhood, I recognize how these desires have shaped me, and I believe they resonate with each and every one of us.

In every client interaction, it is my mission to lavish positive attention, affirmations, and beautiful, truthful blessings upon them. After all, who doesn’t need more of this in their life?! I know I do! I believe that my spiritual gift of encouragement is fulfilled through my work, and relationships allowing me to create an environment where my clients feel truly seen, valued, and celebrated.

As an adventure photographer, I wanted to share with you three compelling reasons why incorporating a first look into your wedding day can be a wonderful experience. I still believe seeing each other for the first time coming down the aisle is incredibly special, but let’s consider these three reasons.

Intimate Connection

The first look offers an unparalleled opportunity for you both to share an intimate moment before the whirlwind of the ceremony and celebration begins. Stepping away from the crowd and allowing yourselves a quiet, private space to see each other for the first time can be incredibly emotional and meaningful. The raw, genuine reactions and emotions captured during this moment create lasting memories that you’ll cherish forever.

Time Efficiency and Calming Nerves

Wedding days are filled with anticipation and nervous energy. Incorporating a first look can help alleviate some of the jitters and create a more relaxed atmosphere. Seeing your partner before the ceremony allows you to share a comforting embrace, exchange encouraging words, and even shed a few happy tears together.

Not only does this help calm your nerves, but it also gives you a chance to spend quality time with each other before the whirlwind of the day takes over. Additionally, by completing your couple portraits and bridal party photos before the ceremony, you can make the most of your time and ensure you have plenty of moments to enjoy with your guests during the reception.

Maximizing Natural Light and Scenic Locations

If you’re planning an outdoor or adventure-themed wedding, embracing a first look opens up a world of possibilities for capturing breathtaking photographs in stunning locations. By scheduling the first look earlier in the day, you can take advantage of the golden hour, that magical time when the sun casts a warm, flattering glow.

Whether it’s a mountaintop, a pristine beach, a lush forest, or any other scenic backdrop you’ve envisioned, the first look allows you to explore these settings without the time constraints of the ceremony and reception. By immersing yourselves in nature’s beauty during this private moment, you can create extraordinary images that capture the essence of your love and the awe-inspiring surroundings.

Whether you choose to have a first look or not, the important thing is that you are joining your lives together. I am committed to creating meaningful connections, capturing genuine emotions, and ensuring that your wedding memories are filled with love, joy, and breathtaking beauty, no matter if you choose to do a first look or not.

What do you think? Did you change your mind reading those or does the tradition of seeing each other at the end of the aisle appeal to you more? I would love to hear your thoughts!

I’m thankful I get to embark on this incredible journey, capturing your special moments and preserving them for a lifetime of cherished memories.

Until next month,

Lovely, Friends
